National/International Transport Planner

In the role of transport planner, you work closely with your immediate colleagues to find the optimal utilization of staff and materials, ensuring the service Thomassen has been providing to its customers for years continues. No two days are the same, making this role interesting and challenging.

Which tasks are associated with this role:

  • Instructing and directing drivers verbally or through onboard computers regarding route details and agreed-upon arrival times.
  • Coordinating staff and material deployment in collaboration with the planning team during work meetings.
  • Processing transports in Thomassen Transport’s planning system to achieve optimal planning.
  • Identifying potential improvements in the process and steering them in consultation with the transport manager.
  • Ensuring correct processing of the administration for transport assignments.
  • Maintaining contact with various stakeholders to coordinate matters about loading and unloading locations.
  • Checking registered hours in drivers’ onboard computers for payroll administration.

Requirements

  • At least MBO+ or HBO level of working and thinking;
  • Completed education in the Transport & Logistics sector or willing to obtain this;
  • At least 3 to 5 years of work experience in a similar position;
  • Relevant experience with advanced planning systems;
  • Good command of Dutch, German, and English;
  • Basic knowledge of general cargo transport, loading, stowing, securing, and unloading;
  • Knowledge of accompanying documents for cargo and trucks;
  • Knowledge of legal regulations regarding transportation;
  • Knowledge of geography in Western European countries.

Employment Conditions:

  • Salary in accordance with the CAO professional goods transport;
  • Responsibility and room for personal initiative;
  • A motivated team with 6 direct colleagues;
  • A position for 40 hours a week;
  • Working hours between 8:00 and 17:30 (this is variable and depends on the workload. This is resolved and filled in together). Additionally, you will participate in the early shifts (7:00 – 16:00) and in the late shifts (10:00 – 19:00);
